Will yours be a summer of lace?
On Sunday our Something New to Learn About Lace Knitalong kicks off! Unlike other topical kick offs, this isn't about winning or losing, and there certainly won't be any penalties... just lots of knitters working on lace projects and sharing their progress, hints and tips. Now is the perfect time to wind your yarn, maybe knit a swatch or two, and find a project with some lace!
As with all the knitalongs in our Ravelry group, we try to keep things as inclusive as possible. The threads always have lots of chatter full of hints and tips to help you with your knitting, as well as encouragement and ideas, so do join in. You just need a free Ravelry account, and the ability to take a photo of your progress and to share the photo in the knitalong thread. If you need a hand with any of those processes, do check out my blog posts on using Ravelry (Getting started and part 2), which should help to get you started.
To be in with a chance of a prize you simply need to:
- Be working on a lace knitting project and…
- Post a photo of your project in the knitalong thread and…
- Tag your project over on Ravelry with SN2LAL (please do this as it allows people to look at all the projects and not just those in our book!).
- The KAL runs from Sunday 1st July until Friday 31st August 2018. Plenty of time to work on small or large projects!
That’s it. Further notes are as follows…
Works in progress are fine just as long as there is some actual knitting to be done on them during the KAL (just a bind off might not be in the spirit of taking part!!).
Projects don’t need to be finished within the KAL period, it’s the taking part that counts!
And you don’t need to be working on a project from our book (Something New to Learn About Lace) so if you’ve had a lace project in your queue for a while, this weekend will be a great time to cast on!
I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone is working on. The knitalongs are definitely good for picking up new pattern ideas. I'm debating between casting on for Martina's Nissolia shawl in Twilight and Cheeks, or Donna's Aphaca blanket for a friend's newborn, or possibly I'll cast on both and throw in Bellrose, also by Martina. You can't have too many lace projects over the summer, can you?!
