A few days ago, we brought you a video tutorial showing how to splice in a new yarn. Today, Jen shows you another fuss-free way to join in a new yarn which also leaves you with no ends to weave in: knitting in ends!
This method is particularly nice as you can use it for any type of yarn (though if your yarn is slippery, you might want to knit it in over more stitches). This video shows you how to knit in the end of your new yarn in preparation for joining it, then what to do with the end of your old yarn when you’ve switched yarns, so you’re left with, did I mention, NO weaving in when you cast off — hoorah! I have it on good authority that this is Jen’s go-to method for joining yarns, whether she’s working with multiple colours or a single one. I for one am very excited to give it a try … despite having learnt to knit as a child, I’ve never tried this technique (reason #1,268 I love Boost Your Knitting … there really is always something new to learn!)
