Elizabeth Zimmerman’s call to arms, or rather, hands, couldn’t be a more fitting motto for the fun we’ve been having over in our Boost Your Knitting KAL this month. We’ve been exploring the joys of the tidy tubular cast on and working up Sarah Hatton’s terrifically textured Totally Tubular Mittens.
We’re just over halfway through the KAL, and there are so many finished pairs to admire already! Several people have taken their cue from the pattern photos and modeled their finished Totally Tubular Mittens with an obliging succulent:
After undertaking April’s stunning but large Sterlyn Shawl, BYK knitters have really been motoring through these Aran-weight mittens. They really do work up in no time! The beauties below were all worked up in four days or less (and look at all those tidy, 1x1 rib edges!):
With fourteen days to go until June’s Boost Your Knitting KAL kicks off (the pattern will be released June 3rd), there’s still plenty of time to get a pair of Totally Tubular Mittens (or any other project using a tubular cast on) onto and off the needles, ready and waiting for Autumn temperatures—or, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, ready to wear now! I’m hoping to cast on my own pair in the next few days … as soon as I can decide which colour of Something to Knit With Aran to use (the pattern requires just two skeins). I’m leaning towards Mustard, but have several contenders …I want something that will brighten a cold day!
And of course, you can purchase Boost Your Knitting at any time — you’ll receive all the patterns and tutorials released to date, as well as getting monthly new releases delivered to your Ravelry inbox through February 2020!
