Oh how I love a cute knitted toy!
But I’ll be honest, I had never been very confident about getting my finished toy to look its best, until I met Ella Austin’s fantastic designs. Ella helped me to overcome my fear of finishing toys, and this month’s project includes lots of hints and tips so that you too can create a polished-looking bunny!
Brunny is a cheeky rabbit! She likes to get up to mischief when we aren’t keeping an eye on her!
Most of Brunny’s mischievous personality comes from her finishing details. We have a full tutorial on how to stuff your toy. There are photos in Boost Your Knitting, and a video tutorial over on our YouTube channel, and I’m still surprised at how much of a difference careful stuffing can make!
Once all the pieces are stuffed, then sewing them together is next on the to do list… We have a full tutorial on that too, and the “secrets” are to use the stitches as a guide, and take your time, redoing if necessary! And finally, your bunny needs a face: we will take you through adding buttons for eyes as well as sewing on the mouth to finish Brunny in style!
Our knitalong is up and running in the Ravelry group, and you’ll find lots of helpful support and advice over there, so do just dive in and say hello!
You can get your copy of Boost Your Knitting over in our online shop (both print and ebook options are available), as well as yarn to knit Brunny. She’s made from three skeins of Something to Knit With 4ply. We also have some Winter Kits remaining, if you fancy working on double-knitting, and toe-up gusset heels as well as this month’s toy challenge.
