Whether you are working stripes or stranded colourwork, this is a brilliant tip to help you put a colour change in exactly the right spot. It’s best used on superwash an other non-felting yarns. If you are working with a yarn that felts I don’t think you can beat splicing.
Anyway… Here’s the video tutorial to show you the way, simply click on the image to be taken to YouTube:
This join is called the clasped weft join, which is way harder to remember than how to do the join itself! If you just want to know how to do the basic join, our video for that is here: Clasped weft join.
I’ve been working on a few projects over the last few weeks. I made Joji Locatelli’s beautiful Three Colour Cashmere Shawl (Ravelry link) from a set of three skeins of Cat and Sparrow yarns that I’ve had in stash for a while. This was a fun knit and didn’t require too much brain-power which was very welcome.
I’ve now cast on for a Porty Pullover (Ravelry link) by Gudrun Johnston in the original colourway, and I’m working my way down the yoke – looking forward to some mindless stocking stitch once I’ve completed the colourwork! Knitting a stranded design in J&S 2ply Jumper Weight is definitely my desert island knitting.
