It has been really cold and damp the last couple of days here, so a seriously warm hat has been called for. If we didn’t need the samples for shows, I would have been wearing one of our Peaks and Troughs Hats all week, whenever I’ve been outdoors. Why? Well, if one layer of knitted fabric will keep my head warm, two must be even better.
Double-knitting may take a little getting used to, but once you have the hang of it you’ll be away, working the reversible fabric as you go. It’s very moreish! We’ve several videos to get you going. Firstly, this is a useful cast-on method, since it sets up alternating knits and purls in alternating colours (it’s also great for corrugated ribbing):
