Well that was SO MUCH fun!
I finished my Parallelogram Wrap by Cecelia Campochiaro from the Mason-Dixon Field Guide No. 5 Sequences. And it has been such a joy to knit. I used the Freia Shawl Balls that were the recommended yarns, in the Purple Heart and Whisper colourways.
Sequence knitting is a weird kind of magic… it takes really simple sequences of stitches (this scarf uses just knit and purl), and repeats them in clever and easily memorised ways. Sequence knits are what you want if you’ve not picked up your needles for a while and want something satisfying but straightforward to get you back in the swing!
The Field Guide No. 5 Sequences is a brilliant introduction to the technique, and contains a selection of beautiful but easy designs. I’m already scoping out yarns to make a Corrugated Shawl after admiring the samples while I was in Rhinebeck.
As you can see, my worries about how large the wrap would end up being were totally unfounded!
And because I’m sure that inquiring minds will want to know… the wrap ended up being a beautifully sized 2m 40cm [94 1/2 in] after blocking!
…which is quite a lot taller than I am! And perfectly cosy for a chilly afternoon walk.
I have about an hour of knitting to go on the sweater I’m test knitting for Lily France, so I’m hoping to go into the New Year with considerably fewer projects on my needles than this time last year. I’m looking forward to sharing this sweater with you, as it has also been really fun to knit.
I’m now thinking about what to cast on next, and I’ve got my eye on a MASSIVE pile of Rowan Felted Tweed for some Kaffe colour and games from Field Guide No. 13 Master Class. Will you join me?
