We are absolutely delighted to be stocking Martina Behm’s fantastic Strickplaner again this year. She has taken lots of feedback for the planner, and it has had a makeover… It’s no longer an annual diary, but rather a book that you can use over a number of years to track your knitting projects, and spoiler alert – we love it!
This page (above) from early in the planner gives a really good overview of the contents of the book. It contains all the project tracking pages, lists, notes pages and so on from previous Strickplaners, as well as now having more space for timelines (I love that section!), extra project pages and much more. You can see more of the actual pages from the Strickplaner over on our product page in the shop.
There’s plenty of space to make notes on the sizing requirements of the people for whom you knit. So far only Jim has made it into my new Strickplaner, but I’ve promised socks to one of my brothers-in-law, so he won’t be alone there for long!
There are two sizes of project pages in the new Strickplaner. Whole pages for those larger projects with more things to keep track of, and half pages for smaller projects.
I’ve set up a whole page for my Debut Pullover (by Karida Collins, from MDK Field Guide No. 18 Beginnings). I’m making it from this beautiful Fyberspates Vivacious DK in Pebble Beach, and I’m nearing the end of the increases on the first sleeve. I’ve marked the increases with locking stitch markers, but I’m going to make a note of what I’ve done in my planner too – that way if I need to steal the stitch markers for another project, I can!
Do you have, ahem, more than a few projects on the go at any one time?
Much as I would like to think that I will remember how many heel stitches I picked up, or what my calf increase rate is, the reality is that life is busy, and if I don’t write it down, I won’t remember! So these half-page project pages are brilliant for smaller projects. I knit lots of socks, and I generally do things the same way, so I don’t need a whole page to keep track of everything.
I love that I can flick through and see at a glance which needles are in which projects! Saves me so much searching through project bags!
I’m also working on the embroidery for my Patina Scarf in the alternative colourway – Gradient in Waldfrau and a Zauberball in Smoking Area. I’ve given myself some encouraging tick boxes for each of the stitches I need to work on.
This is by no means all of my WIPs (Works In Progress)! But even just with these, it’s brilliant to be able to quickly flick to the right section and see where I’m up to. Little page markers made with washi tape are a great addition. I’m also a big fan of the planner stickers made by Symposipress, as well as the original Strickplaner Stickers that we have in our online shop.
Add all the stickers!
And all the washi tape!
And knit all the things!
The Strickplaner is now on sale in our online shop and costs £19.00. We also have a limited supply of Pen Loops, Strickplaner Stickers and Washi Tape to accompany your journalling needs.
I’ve only scratched the surface of the things that the new Strickplaner is going to help me with, so expect further posts as I explore all the new tools.
And the best thing about it? It doesn’t involve opening the rabbit hole of doom that is my phone…
